From the earliest discussions, this 10th Anniversary Rally was going to be special.  When it was decided to use the same location as where the club was founded by its Charter Members in 2002, it became known as the Reunion rally.  By whatever name, it was a special time, and this rally marked more than one milestone in the on-going story of WCMC.

Most of the original members have “moved on” for various reasons, but we were able to offer our thanks personally to Charter Members in attendance Cliff & Barb Irwin, Russ Johnson, and Paul & Sally Wagner.  Russ also served as rally HOST, and with planning help from fellow Charter Members Dan & Sue Monahan, Russ put on a great rally with considerable implementation help from West VP Ken Korhonen.   The normally parched Texas Hill Country location received copious amounts of much-needed rainfall while we were there, and the Guadalupe River was out of its banks for a while, but that didn’t stop our members from enjoying the various Hill Country attractions and great food.  The many gift baskets donated by members were a big hit for those lucky enough to win one, and the raffle generated over $700.00 for the local charity.  The meals, entertainment, socials, bingo, and seminars, combined with free time for exploring, gave all who attended a fun-filled week to remember.

Another milestone was the news, delivered by Workhorse Regional Service Manager Carl Dahl that Navistar decided to “mothball” the Workhorse brand and close the assembly line in Union City, IN.   This corporate decision marks the end of the financial support Workhorse has provided for our rallies.  We also missed, for the first time in over six years, the personal involvement of Workhorse liaison Linda DeHaven, who was given a WCMC Lifetime Honorary Membership in recognition of her support and friendship.  These last two milestones do not mark the end of the story for WCMC, but rather a return to its beginning as a social club, and FMCA Chapter, made up of friends who share a common bond in the Workhorse foundation of their home on wheels.    During the business meeting, a motion was made, seconded, and approved that allows all former members of WCMC to attend club rallies, regardless of the current chassis brand.

Photo: The 10th Anniversary Rally is over and Club members are on their way home. I thought that it would be fitting to share a video with you about what you missed! Guadalupe River RV Resort recently won the TACO campground of the year award. Located on the Guadalupe River, the resort features 212 campsites.
